Emerson Fittipaldi took the 4WD turbine powered Lotus 56B out for one final time at the 1971 Italian Grand Prix before Chapman & Co went back to the conventional Lotus 72 for good. Fast in the wet due to 4WD it was too fragile and heavy to be a serious challenger in Formula One. Dave Walker and Reine Wisell also had outings in the car.
