CNN contributor Van Jones lavished praise on President Donald Trump for one key moment of his address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night.

The panel rewatched a clip of Trump recognizing Carryn Owens, the widow of Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens, who died last month in a botched covert mission in Yemen. The Navy SEAL’s widow attended the speech as one of the president’s guests, and was seated next to first daughter Ivanka Trump.

“Ryan died as he lived: a warrior, and a hero, battling against terrorism and securing our nation,” Trump said before the session rose in applause.

Following the clip, Jones labeled the moment as “one of the most extraordinary moments you have seen in American politics, period.”

“He became president of the United States in that moment, period,” Jones said. “That thing you just saw him do, if he finds a way to do that over and over again, he’s going to be there for eight years.”

Many on Twitter did not agree with Jones’ take, and said they found the moment exploitative.

Jones has been a harsh critic of Trump since the businessman launched his candidacy for president, making headlines before and after the election.

A February Wall Street Journal report named Jones and his colleague Ana Navarro as two CNN contributors Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, specifically complained about during a meeting with an executive from CNN’s parent company, Time Warner.
