David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Neville brothers hit the town at Manchester United class of 1992 reunion

They formed part of one of the greatest youth teams ever seen, and on Monday night the Manchester United class of 1992 were back together again.

David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Gary Neville were spotted in Manchester as they headed out for dinner to celebrate 22 years to the day since they signed their first professional contracts at Old Trafford.

Way before they became Manchester United legends, the six players were branded 'Fergie's Fledglings' after Sir Alex Ferguson had promoted them to the first team and thrust them into the spotlight following their FA Youth Cup victory in 1992.

Following a 3-1 opening day defeat to Aston Villa three seasons later, Match of the Day pundit Alan Hansen famously said: "You'll never win anything with kids", before Sir Alex's young side overturned Newcastle United's 10-point Christmas lead to win the club's third league title in four years.

Many of the "Class of '92" were destined to become regulars for their country, with all six big names who were seen out on Monday going on to have distinguished international careers.

But there was one player missing from the reunion. Standing at the end of the line in the original photo from 1992, Terry Cooke was 15 when he was part of the FA Youth Cup-winning team but his career bears little resemblance to that of his peers.

Having made just four appearances for the first team, Cooke left United and spent spells in Australia and the United States before finally retiring after a brief stint in Azerbaijan.

Perhaps his former team-mates raised a glass to remember those less fortunate than themselves on Monday night.
