Jack Johnson (Remember Him?) Just Debuted a Line of Hippie Flip-Flops

Latest

Jack Johnson, whom you might remember from lazy summer days at the beach circa 2002, is still knocking around, rambling from sunny outdoor venue to sunny outdoor venue with a guitar slung over his back. And he wants you able to live the Jack Johnson lifestyle, as well. Hence the announcement of his own line of eco-friendly flip-flops—today, on Earth Day.

They look like every other pair of flip-flops ever, except one style is decorated with Jack Johnson album art. Totally chill vibes are a bonus.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that the line is being produced by “conscious” shoe company FeelGoodz. They come in two styles: rubber ($25) and leather ($50). Jack personally wears the latter, according to MTV News, while his wife prefers the former. All proceeds go to the couple’s environmental education nonprofit, the Kokua Hawaii Foundation. Just to demonstrate the perfection of this fit, an origin story:

Feelgoodz founder Kyle Berner said the partnership came about after some of the brand’s sales reps met Johnson’s team at an event supporting urban gardening.

“That’s how the connection started — and the next time [our reps] ran into them, they were all wearing our product,” he said. The items chosen for the collaboration, Berner added, were the couple’s favorite styles.

You know, it should be easy to poke gentle fun at so-low-key-he’s-practically-asleep-at-the-microphone Jack Johnson. But suddenly I’m nodding off to dreams of white sands and crashing waves. Maybe it’s some sort of protective psychic forcefield?
