YOUR BIG CHANCE

Yahoo is auctioning off domain names like sandwich.com and cyberjokes.com

Maybe they should try selling yahoo.com.

It’s not quite a Christie’s art sale, but Yahoo is putting up for auction a slew of domain names that it owns but hasn’t been using. The auction, which will last a week starting Nov. 14, runs the gamut from sandwich.com to religious.net. A lot of them simply make you wonder why Yahoo bought the URL in the first place.

The priciest domain up for auction is av.com, which Yahoo won’t sell unless it fetches somewhere between $1 million and $1.5 million. (We here at qz.com like to see the market valuing two-letter domains.) Other high-priced domains include webserver.comtransmissions.comwesterns.com and mym.com. The best domain in the lot, though Yahoo isn’t expecting to fetch much for it, is cyberjokes.com, which we have to assume was acquired back in the 1990s.

Here’s a list of all 29 domain names up for auction, along with the reserve price range below which Yahoo isn’t willing to sell:
