The journey of a life time....what can I say? This time last week I had watched the sun set over Longido mountain, with the sound of the Go Away Bird calling in the distance, whilst waiting for the Maasai children from each Maasai Boma to walk through our camp as they trekked home from school. Tanzania is the most beautiful country I have ever been to. I began my journey 18 months ago, when I booked to trek with Charity Challenge across the bush with the Maasai as our guide and guard. In the 18 months I had to raise a minimum of £4000 for charity, of which I chose the Motor Neurones Disease Association and get myself both mentally and physically ready to walk over 75K in 40 degree heat. All the hard work, with fund raising, training and planning....and of course then trekking, was worth every second. It was the hardest challenge I have ever faced in my life, but also one of the most rewarding and inspiring. My mission now, with the new life long friends I made along the way, will be to put shoes on the children’s feet. I will keep you posted on events in the future, of which all of you can help.
