The black codes of the Jim crow Era during reconstruction, through the civil rights. The south lost the war symbolically but slavery lasted in the south all the way up to WWII. When our people tried to migrate South, they would be killed, lynched, tortured, raped and terrorized. This neo slavery would be called sharecropping
