Filming has begun on two one-hour long special episodes of the BBC’s “Luther” with Idris Elba returning to the iconic role of the disgruntled DCI John Luther. Elba posted a photo of himself shooting scenes for this fourth batch of episodes in east London this week, whilst the BBC has also released an official image from the set.
Cast regulars Michael Smiley and Dermot Crowley are back, with guest stars for the specials including “Game of Thrones” duo Rose Leslie and Patrick Malahide, Laura Haddock (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and John Heffernan (“Ripper Street”). No confirmation has been made of Ruth Wilson reprising her acclaimed role of Alice Morgan in the specials.
The new episodes will apparently see a Luther hell-bent on retribution as he faces his most chilling adversary yet. It’s scheduled for broadcast this Fall.
