New week, new optical illusion to distract us from the day's to-do list. Yes, today might only be Monday, but the Internet is already at it again with another headache-inducing puzzle.

This one, which we found on Daily Mail's site, presents us with a line of rectangular bars. The question is, how many do you see?

Although it seems counting the bars should be as simple as counting the small square sides that face us, the viewers, we all know puzzles like this one are rarely that easy. And when you start to study the lines in the bottom right portion of the image, you'll notice they're bit of a mess — and don't quite form complete bars.

When you look at the squares facing you, you'll see eight bars. But when you look at the square ends facing away from you, you'll only see seven. The first five bars (in the top left of the image) make sense... and then things start to get confusing. Cue our extreme frustration.

So, are you ready for the answer? According to the Daily Mail, there are actually six bars in total. There are the five complete bars you can clearly see on the top left, and then, if you look further down the line, you'll see that the final bar (the one closest to you) is the only other complete bar in the bunch. So there you have it.

Now go ahead and get back to today's regularly scheduled programming.
