IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from? MONET: I am from a small city named Clarksville, located in the state of Tennessee. It’s located near Fort Campbell, Kentucky the military base. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background? MONET: My musical background is collected from an old school vibe. I’ve comprised the styles of Tina Turner, Etta James, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, and Mariah Carey. As a child and still to this day, I am infatuated with Tina Turner and her soulful rock n Roll sound. I often mimicked her through my sound and actions. Toni Braxton and Etta James, those women had something uniquely profound in their sound and have inspired me in ways like no other. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music? MONET: Recording and releasing my own music has been a major dream for me as well as an accomplishment. I want my music to empower people in a very positive way. Music influences people, and with a positive outlook on life and things around us I think it would excite people. I want to bring back that old school vibe that the world is missing out on. I want to provide lyrics that actually reach out and touch you with emotions and passion. I want to make a major impact on the world and leave behind a legacy to people of all ages and all races! IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about? MONET: My songs are about that first time love that you experienced as a teenager. My songs are about that relative or loved one that you may have lost or may have passed away. My songs are about that relationship of heartache and pain. My songs serve as that inspirational guidance that you need in order to be uplifted to get out of any tough situation, or that moment in time where you just want to be wild and free. My music tells stories and that’s the best way to write music. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences? MONET: I am highly influenced by Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Etta James, Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey.  IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people? MONET: I would describe my music to be contemporary rhythm and blues, rhythm and blues, soul, and pop. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What makes you stand out from other artists? MONET: I think that what makes me stand out from a lot of other artist is my sound. I feel like my voice is unique and isn’t common amongst any other artist in the pop culture today. I think that once the world hears me that they will like my sound, and it might also become a nostalgic sound for them as well. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome? MONET: One of the hardest challenges that I had to face in my career was finding voice and a place to belong. It is hard knowing that your voice is unique and trying to stay on top of the game with all these new trends and artists. I always want to try to keep up. Then I had to realize that God gave me this voice for a reason, and with that reason comes tons of blessings, success, and happiness. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on? MONET: Currently at this moment I’ve just finished an album. It’s entitled “Monet Love’s Unfair”. The album is comprised of seven songs. All the songs on the album were written by me. It will be in stores nationwide and  worldwide through all major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Hastings, etc. It will also be available on ITunes and Amazon. The album is scheduled to come out on Tuesday, June 24th 2014. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years? MONET: Wow, this is a tough one. Well I see myself continuing on with my music career with major success and happiness. In good health, while also maintaining my music career as far as performing, mentoring, writing, producing and many more. What can I say I love what I do!
