Sir Ian McKellen has made his final trip to Middle Earth. Peter Jackson posted this photo after shooting Gandalf's last Hobbit scene.

Yesterday, Jackson posted the photo on his Facebook page along with this caption:

Seconds ago we finished our last shot with Gandalf. The end of an incredible adventure that began in 1999. I'm feeling very sad right now.

We know that filming the Hobbit films hasn't always been a smooth journey for McKellen, but hopefully, he's ultimately enjoyed bringing Gandalf back to the screen. We always enjoy watching him. Next up, he's starring in Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land and Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot opposite Patrick Stewart. Time to hit the theater.
