Overshadowing the proceedings in Hall H during Warner Bros.' Comic-Con panel was one iconic dame: Wonder Woman.

This year's Batman v Superman marked her very first onscreen outing in an entire 75-year history, though she's long been a central bastion of DC's roster of superheroes. A long time coming, then; meaning expectations have been understandably high for her first solo outing, which sees Gal Gadot once more pick up shield-and-lasso to fight the world's evils.

Warner Bros.' presentation has now offered us the very first trailer for the film; directed by Patty Jenkins, what's most immediately enticing about it all is how markedly different it is in tone and visuals to Zack Snyder's dark, grim Batman v Superman.

The trailer opens on a beautiful, vibrant beach; where we see Diana (Gadot) first cross paths with pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine); the first man the princess of the Amazons has ever met, and the one who reveals the world of men she becomes so convinced she can aid. Diana enters into the midst of WWI, and it's here we're offered action pieces which feel like a breath of fresh air in their originality.

We see Amazons battling on horseback, Trevor engaged in aerial dogfights, Wonder Woman navigating the trenches with her lasso; all visuals so unusual in the superhero world, and something which immediately sets Jenkins' film apart from its predecessors.

Here's the full synopsis:
