I've only been to The Loft once, and this was the one record I asked David about. What I picked up on right away was his humility and generosity. He pulled up the empty sleeve to show me what it looked like and told me everything he could about it. The only thing he didn't mention was the catalog number, and he might as well have. I hope these recorded tributes become a regular occurence. Thanks for sharing your memories and for this mind melting selection. SALUTE!

This is a recording from the last time I played in Los Angeles. The party was put together by the Sarcastic Disco crew along with Know-Wave.com & the Oh Wow Gallery.

It took place in an awesome warehouse/loft in downtown L.A.

After a super warm up by Alex Olson. I went on around 2am. 
This particular clip picks up about an hour into my set. 

The last song went on about 7am.
We all had soooo much fun. Thank you to everyone who made it out and made it such a killer night/morning.

Solid Steel (2nd December) With the recent passing of The Loft founder David Mancuso, we wanted to pay tribute on Solid Steel to the man who led the way in club culture with his legendary New York parties. We invited Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy, his close friend who starting going to The Loft parties in the early 90's and was one of the few people he would trust to play there. For this special 2 hour show, Colleen told us;

"In this show I pay tribute to my mentor, collaborator and close friend David Mancuso who recently passed to the next realm. He was one of the most significant people in my life and inspired so much of what I do.
In the programme I try to dispel the myth that David was the 'Godfather of Disco' - a moniker he didn’t like and one that is inaccurate, as in his long musical journeys he also channeled music that pushed far beyond four-to-the-floor. His esoteric musical choices were one of the several reasons I got so involved with The Loft parties as we spoke the same musical language. 
My life won’t be the same without David, but I feel blessed to have closely shared 25 years of my life with him. I only hope hat I can help carry on his musical and sonic legacy through the parties and with the larger Loft community as he wished. Love saves the day."

Up this week is the Brooklyn resident who is one of those DJs and producers who seem synonymous with New York City, brandishing a stellar discography that holds credits for labels such as Golf Channel, DFA, Throne Of Blood, Eric Duncan’s Keep It Cheap and ESP Institute. Justin currently runs the My Rules record imprint, where he has a hand in the production of every release. The label not only provides a platform for all his recent solo outings but also offers a stylistically broad range of releases: from his remixes of the likes of dance music heavyweight Todd Terje to Japanese new-wave group The Creams.
He's supplied us with a Disco special mix this week, so polish off your mirror ball and get stuck in!
