Additionally, Blue Dragon, another JRPG for 360, is now available for download in the Xbox store as part of the backwards compatibility program, but it's not offered free of charge. This morning Xbox head Phil Spencer said almost half of all Xbox One owners take advantage of the Xbox 360 backwards compatible feature introduced to the system.
Major Nelson said when both games were originally added to the backwards compatibility program, playing them required the original disc.
Nelson said Microsoft was able to engineer a solution allowing the games to be made "available digitally in the Xbox 360 Marketplace."
Both games are the work of Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker Studios, and are unmistakably JRPGs, something of a rare site on Microsoft's last-gen console.
In our Lost Odyssey review, we gave the game an 8.2, giving high praise to its gameplay and graphics. Our review of Blue Dragon gave the game a 7.9, citing a story and pace that might turn off Western gamers.
Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon can both be downloaded from the Xbox 360 Marketplace, with Blue Dragon currently priced at $20 USD. Seth Macy is IGN's weekend web producer and just wants to be your friend. Follow him on Twitter @sethmacy, or subscribe to Seth Macy's YouTube channel.
