Without understanding God's justice against sin, the cross cannot be anything except, a nice sentiment, or that Jesus was just another martyr. But when you see that God's justice was displayed in the penal substitution, Christ bearing the sins of His people, taking the punishment that their sins deserve upon Himself, then everything falls into place. You see Definite Atonement, Redemption, Propitiation, and the great love of God clearly displayed in its fullness! BB
