If you're lucky enough to live in a place with a clear sky this weekend, grab your binoculars, because there's going to be a lot to watch this weekend.

The Associated Press reports that on Sunday morning, Earth, Mars, and the Sun will be perfectly aligned, with Mars and the sun on opposite sides of Earth. This event is called Mars opposition, and it happens once every two years.

This year, Mars will come within 47 million miles of Earth, the closest it has been in 10 years. And that means stargazers are in for a treat. Sunday night, if you look to the southeast after the sun sets, can see a bigger and brighter Mars not just this weekend, but into June as well. According to EarthSky.org, this will be the best month in two years to look at Mars; it will have quadrupled in brilliance since the beginning of April.

And that's not the only show happening in the sky this weekend. According to AccuWeather, this weekend also brings a "blue moon," or the second full moon in a calendar month. The full moon is expected to shine brightest on Saturday night.

Both phenomena will be best viewed by stargazers in the Midwest, South, and Southwest. For more context on Mars opposition, check out a video NASA made about the last time this happened, two years ago:
