The famed Mèche salon, which is located in Beverly Hills on Burton Way is the place to be on a Monday, and then some. To the delight of many loyal clients and out-of-towners, Mèche (French word for highlight) is now open on Mondays! Yay! Due to high demand—as most salons are closed on Sundays and Mondays—they decided to help keep Angelinos stay pretty and be open an extra day, and the usual suspects know that it’s the place to be regardless of which day of the week.

The salon was founded in 2012 by much-sought-after and celebrated celebrity hair colorist Tracey Cunningham, who may have, in fact, pioneered the “ombré” movement as the Redken creative consultant for color, and London-born Neil Weisberg, the haircutter and stylist guru. Under their direction, this salon has been rockin’ ever since.

Frequented by mega-boldfaced names such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Stone, Cameron Diaz, and the Kardashian sisters, it is an environment that is cool and easy—a genius 300-square-foot oasis for the young and the restless. I happened to be in Los Angeles on a Monday for a hot minute and decided to go for a visit. Even though Tracey was away, working in South Africa (a coloring session attending to another bold-faced name, no doubt), I was greeted by Chelsea Belushi (Wernsman), one of Cunningham’s trusted colorist, who couldn’t have been more adorable, sweet, and very attentive. She listened to all my needs very carefully, we assessed my hair, and then, voilà! Redken color perfection was achieved in no time, with a fabulous quick blowout by Stacy Ho, to boot.

And to keep your gorgeous new hairstyle for a day or two longer, you must try Redken’s new Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender! This oil-absorbing dry shampoo feels wonderfully cool when you spray, and it goes on sheer with a refreshing scent—no white micro-powder here. And, most importantly, it works!

Overall, I found this salon setting and the staff to be L.A.-chilled and easy-breezy friendly, and I loved it. With its cool, modern design and a lofty, barn-like décor space constructed by Rodney Ross, using natural and reclaimed materials, it’s a very comfortable airy environment that you’ll find yourself coming back to.
