British TV giant ITV has acquired new CBS dramedy Scorpion.
It will air the show, which had strong debut ratings, on its ITV2 network, starting later this fall.
Financial terms of the deal with CBS Studios International weren’t disclosed. It is for the exclusive, first-window broadcast and subscription VOD rights to the show.
Starring Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick and Katharine McPhee, Scorpion is inspired by the true story of eccentric genius Walter O’Brien and his team of misfits who fight high-tech threats.

“We are thrilled to be working with ITV to bring Scorpion‘s unique and action-packed storylines to British audiences,” said Stephen Tague, senior vp, Europe for CBS Studios International. “Scorpion will undoubtedly add sizzle to ITV2’s schedule this autumn.”
Said Angela Jain, ITV’s director of digital channels and acquisitions: “We think this fun, action-packed drama about a group of misfit masterminds is a perfect fit for our young audience. Its incredibly strong premiere on CBS in the States is just the start we had hoped for.”
Scorpion averaged 13.8 million viewers for its first episode. A big test for it will be how it fares once The Big Bang Theory migrates back from its current Monday slot to Thursdays when CBS’ run of NFL Thursday-night games ends.
