One of the most exciting electric cars in the works (and one of the most obvious legitimate competitors to Tesla’s hold on the high end of the market) is the Porsche Mission E, which is slated for a 2019 release. And now there’s finally footage of it in motion — or, at least, the test mule version.

Electrek spotted a video uploaded by France’s L’Automobile Magazine that shows the car whipping around the Nürburgring track in Germany. The famous circuit is where carmakers often go to test high-performance cars while they’re still in the works. It’s also one of the auto industry’s premier venues for attaining bragging rights; setting the fastest time around the Nürburgring in a production car is something automakers still care about deeply.

At just under a minute, the clip isn’t terribly long, and this is obviously not the final version of the car. But I’d bet it’s enough to sate the hungriest fans of the idea of an electric Porsche for now. It’s also the latest sign that this mythic car, which started as a dreamy concept in 2015, is actually becoming real.

We’re sure to see more of the Mission E in the coming two years, especially in its final form. Think of this video more as the low whoosh and rumble that foreshadows an avalanche than the tumbling snow itself.

Speaking of sound, I think the most interesting thing about this clip is just how quiet the Mission E is. Expect that to change; Porsche has reportedly considered in-cabin sounds for the car, and regulators are already pushing the idea that electric cars should be louder on the outside to protect pedestrians.
