Prince Harry 'desperate for Archie to have "care-free" upbringing like cousin'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have taken steps to protect baby Archie's privacy, but a royal commentator claims it will be a "losing battle"

New dad Prince Harry wants his baby boy Archie to have a "care-free" upbringing like his cousin Zara Tindall, a royal watcher claims.

Olympic medallist Zara, 38, once told how she felt "very lucky" that her mum, Princess Anne, decided not to give her a royal title at birth.

It means Zara - who lives on her mum's Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire with husband and ex-rugby player Mike Tindall and their two daughters - is able to lead a "normal" life without formal royal duties.

But such a "charmed life" for Archie - Harry and Meghan Markle's first child - would be "impossible", claims royal commentator Duncan Larcombe.

Mr Larcombe told the Sun: “Zara’s lived a charmed life, she’s got the best of the both worlds in a way that Harry would dream of.

“If Prince Harry is set his sights on raising Archie in a similar vein where he can live in the big houses and basically be a royal but not a royal, live a normal life with a normal job - that is something that Archie could never have.

He said Harry will do everything he can to protect Archie, but it will be a "losing battle" given the considerable amount of public interest in the family.

Two-month-old Archie, who wasn't given a royal title at birth, was delivered at the UK's most exclusive private maternity hospital, the Portland Hospital, in central London on May 6.

Since then, Harry, 34, and former Suits actress Meghan, 37, have taken steps to protect the newborn's privacy.

They decided not to pose for photos outside the hospital like Prince William and Kate Middleton, they waited two days to announce the baby's name and they held Archie's christening in private.

The names of his godparents have not been revealed.

In other royal news, Harry's ex Ellie Goulding, 32, has invited his cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and their mum, Sarah Ferguson, to watch her get married to art dealer Caspar Jopling.

It was claimed this week that Meghan and Kate have been getting on much better since Archie was born.
