Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg threw $50 million this week behind Everytown for Gun Safety, a new advocacy group created to combat the influence of the National Rifle Association in the gun control fight.
Everytown for Gun Safety released a chilling public service announcement on Wednesday, featuring children playing hide-and-seek in a home with an unsecured gun. One child, when hiding in a closet, discovers the gun and pulls the trigger.
"Will you stop this?" the ad asks. "Scenes like this happen all the time. More than two million American kids live in homes with unsecured guns. ... You have another chance to stop a child from being killed."

Bloomberg has voiced his support for increasing gun control measures throughout his political career. He told The New York Times that change will require a bit-by-bit approach, backed by copious amounts of money and time.
“You’ve got to work at it piece by piece,” he added. “One mom and another mom. You’ve got to wear them down until they finally say, ‘Enough.’”
Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Bloomberg's better-known advocacy group, is being brought under the umbrella of Everytown for Gun Safety, according to the Times.
