Vintage Typewriter Keys + New Tech = Diesel Punk Keyboard?

Richard Nagy has designed and built The Executive Keyboard, taking design cues from vintage mechanical keyboards. Combined with a leatherette top and aluminum sides, it’s certainly a piece for computer gearheads to swoon over. But the $900 price tag? Looks more like a challenge to make my own!

$900.00!!!!!???? WTF? While quite aesthetically pleasing, beautiful, in fact, $900.00 is outrageous! Can’t imagine they’re selling like hotcakes. lol

It’s a very nice looking, apparently well made keyboard, but $900 is ridiculously overpriced.

    Love the concept!

Hey, at least you don’t have to use a lower-case “L” for the “1”…

For something that unique and handmade, and very nice looking. I don’t think the price is unreasonable. Unaffordable for most, yes. But then, it seems like everyone’s fine with paying $600 for a phone. Why would an heirloom keyboard not be worth it?

  6. Jack Van Gossen says:

$900 seems a bit high until you try to build one yourself. If you have the means, then do so. We’d all love to see more ideas on these kind of mods. But (currently) lacking the ability to machine metal that nicely and definitely not having the time to undertake a project like that – I’d pay the money (if only I had it) because that keyboard will likely outlast the next three or four PCs you buy. Check his website, the craftsmanship is amazing, and well worth it for those who are willing to pay the price.

Yeah, defintely priced itself out of a market. Heck, who would use it for fear of breaking something? Yup, at least he inspired others to make their own versions. Expect a $100 version kicking aorund by the summer time at least :)
