Today, with all eyes on them, Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. After leaving Cliveden House Hotel, the bride rode through town to cheers in a Rolls-Royce with her mother, Doria Ragland. Crowds lined the streets and the Long Walk that leads into Windsor Castle, making up what felt like Britain’s biggest street fair party.

Celebrity couples like Amal and George Clooney, Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian, and Victoria and David Beckham arrived to much fanfare. And once everyone was settled, Queen Elizabeth, in a lime dress by Stewart Parvin and matching hat by Angela Kelly, and Prince Philip were the last to enter before 10 bridesmaids and page boys made their way into the church, looking angelic and adorable.

At just a minute after noon, the bride emerged from the car at the West Door of the church in a perfectly tailored, timeless Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy gown, with a boatneck that was reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’s in Funny Face, and her hair in a low chignon. She made the initial walk into the church alone, in what many are calling a feminist moment, and then joined Prince Charles halfway down the aisle; he escorted her the final steps to the altar.

Prince Harry was clearly emotional during the heartfelt ceremony, which felt intimate despite the fact that there were about 600 in the congregation. Bishop Michael Curry gave a powerful sermon, which ended with, “Dr. King was right, we must discover love, the redemptive power of love.” Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir then sang the Ben E. King classic “Stand by Me,” and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exchanged their vows through smiles.
