I was waiting for the moonrise to make a timelapse movie of its accent, by practicing my light painting. I was trying to find the right settings to image the stars behind the subject. I took this Selfie, one of many only when I got back to the camera, a "scratch" appeared in the upper right. I thought some of the light from my multicolored flashlight must have grazed the lens. But on closer examination, I realized I had managed to Catch a Meteor that appears to have struck the atmoshere at a glancing angle and like a thrown flat stone skipping over the water, this object dipped into the atmosphere several times before flying back into space. I'm seeking verification and discovery of what this flying, no doubt wingless wonder I captured, actually was? Recorded at 7pm in Kihei Hawaii. Camera was Canon 60D, ISO 4000, f/5 at 15 sec exposure with brand new Canon 24mm Macro lens I purchased specifically to image the amazing Hawaii night sky. What a great gift to have this eon's old flying fragment of matter, magically appear behind my back! You can actually see the bright nodes as it dipped in and out of Earths Atmosphere before continuing its FLIGHT! Tweet
