According to Cheapflights.com, deals for travel during the winter holiday can be found as early as 25 weeks in advance (which is the week of July 2). When You Should Buy Your Flights for Every Major Holiday To determine the ideal time to book affordable flights for a holiday getaway, Cheapflights looked at Americans’ favorite destinations for the season and when the best deals could be found. Travelers who want to spend a winter holiday at Disney World should be prepared to make reservations the week of August 6. And the week of July 16 is a great time to look for flights for a trip to Atlanta or Mexico City. Even if you don’t want to spend the December holidays sunning on the beaches of Puerto Rico (watch for fares the week of August 27), you should still be prepared to book your winter vacation soon. Cheapflights estimates that this window for cheap holiday flights closes in mid-September. While this can change wildly depending on where you want to travel, Cheapflights isn’t the only site to target summer as the perfect time to book holiday travel. In 2015, Skyscanner pinpointed August 10 as the best day to book tickets for holiday trips, from Thanksgiving all the way to New Year's. If you're not quite ready to book, but see the benefit of planning ahead, consider setting up fare alerts in Google Flights or on Hopper. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
