LIRR commuter shouts racist comments at black women

A white commuter was caught on video making racist comments to a pair of black women on a Long Island Rail Road train.

The man, who was upset that the women were talking too loudly, then said they couldn’t possibly know who their parents are.

“Shut the f–k up, you f–king loudmouthed monkey motherf–ker,” the man screams to the girls, who are offscreen. “… I can’t listen to your f–king black ass no more. ..You f–king loudmouthed bitch. ..At least I got a f–king mother. Do you know who your mother is? You don’t know who your mother or your father is because you’re a f–king monkey, that’s why.”

The April 19 shouting match on the evening Long Beach-bound train from Penn Station started when the man called out one of the women for talking too loud, said another passenger who was in the car and witnessed the incident.

“All the way from Penn to Jamaica, he was mumbling under his breath that she was loud,” said one passenger who declined to give his name. “Then he yelled at her. At first they were just going at it, but then he made it racial.”

The passenger said he couldn’t hear the young woman speaking at all before the man started yelling and that it was not a designated quiet car.

The woman who posted the video to a Facebook group said that the man later got in the woman’s face.

“What this video does not show – him getting up to get in the young women’s face to scream at her more,” wrote Aneesa Janat Rafeek. “It was honestly so disgusting to witness.”

Rafeek wrote that the yelling man eventually moved to a different car.

MTA officials condemned the man’s behavior and said they are investigating.

“This language is offensive, completely inappropriate, and has no place in our society, let alone on the Long Island Rail Road,” said MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan. “We are actively investigating this report.”
