The Comic-Con Trailer For ‘Gotham’ Shows Us How Penguin Got The Name

Before Warner and DC Comics kick off their panel and premiere screening in Hall H tonight, they dropped a new trailer for Batman prequel TV show Gotham. We had heard The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) steals the show in the first episode, so it appears they wanted to play into their strengths for this promo. We get our first confirmation that Carmine Falcone is in this along with more Arkham references (spoiler alert, I guess). We also get to see plenty of Cobblepot promising streets of blood and resenting the fratty bros who pointed out his odd, penguin-like gait like he doesn’t already know about it. Even in Gotham, the bros still live long enough to tease supervillains to their face.

In addition to the other Gotham promotions at Comic-Con — including a zip line, Gotham PD Uber service, and Gotham Chronicle newspapers — Warner just announced a contest, the details of which were explained to The Hollywood Reporter:

The network is asking fans to create their own Gotham poster and/or trailer with with the grand-prize winners earning a trip to the New York City premiere party of the Batman prequel series […]. The poster contest tasks fans to design a one-sheet utilizing specific assets, such as graphics, fonts, images and title cards provided by Fox. The trailer contest calls on fans to recreate a scene from the new 60-second trailer for the show.

So… they want fans to edit their pictures and videos? Waaaay ahead of you guys. *opens file labelled “Riddler”, continues retouching the totally-real photos of our honeymoon at the Reignac-sur-Indre hedge maze.*

Gotham airs Mondays at 8/7c on FOX starting September 22nd.
