Fragmented Black and White Scenes Create Beautifully Abstract Formations

L.A.-based photographer Kevin Saint Grey captures a calming energy throughout his striking black and white photographs. Narrowing in on just a fragment of a tall building or an isolated tree surrounded by sky, his minimalist approach results in beautifully abstract formations.

When Grey looks at a scene, he naturally composes the shot in his mind before actually clicking the shutter. The results are a dramatic combination of strong contrast, diagonal lines, and geometric forms that divide the scene into intriguing shapes and patterns.

Grey believes that every component within a composition has to work together in harmony with each other in order for the final photograph to work. “The most important aspect of an image for me is balance,” he explains.
