Three female cabin crew were involved in the fracas

A Delta Air Lines flight was forced to make an unscheduled landing after a fight broke out between two flight attendants.

The Minneapolis-bound aircraft left Los Angeles and was about 200 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah, when the captain announced he was diverting the Boeing 757, telling air traffic control he wanted to hear from his cabin crew.

Two female flight attendants had allegedly become embroiled in a fist fight “over work issues”, with a third hit by a stray punch after attempting to intervene, according to the Aviation Herald.

A passenger reported that three cabin crew were sent off due to “bad behaviour”.

The aircraft remained on the ground at Salt Lake City for about 80 minutes, before departing and arriving in Minneapolis 75 minutes late.

A spokesperson for Delta told Telegraph Travel: “Delta apologises to those customers who were inconvenienced after flight 2598 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis-St. Paul made an unscheduled stop in Salt Lake City following an altercation involving two flight attendants on board.

“The actions of these crew members in no way reflect the values and professionalism we expect from all of our employees.”

The American airline sent a letter to the passengers affected, offering loyalty members additional air miles, and those who were not, travel vouchers.

A flight delay caused by a cabin crew brawl is nothing on the grand scheme of things however, as schedules have been disrupted for many more bizarre reasons.

In October last year, an American Airlines flight was delayed on the tarmac in Frankfurt for an hour after a swarm of 1,000 bees was found on the wing, while in March a British Airways flight bound for Dubai had to return to Heathrow because of a “smelly poo”.
