Featured above is a photo composite of part of a lightning display I observed southwest of Orlando, Florida earlier this summer. I watched this storm form as a rather innocuous spot on the weather radar and absolutely explode just after sunset into a huge thunderstorm complex. Though the Florida Peninsula is known to be among the most active locations in the world for lightning, this was easily the best fireworks show I've seen yet this year. Photo taken on July 1, 2015.
Photo Details: Nine frames were captured during a 24 minute period -- from 8:43 p.m. to 9:07 p.m. Each frame 11mm; 10 second exposure; f/16; ISO 200.
