In its second recent collaboration with travel industry giants, Disney will promote the new film "Planes" alongside American Airlines new aircraft.

Travelers at LAX on Wednesday morning were surprised with gate celebrations, giveaways, and screenings as part of American Airlines’ collaboration with Disney to promote the airline’s new Boeing 777 and Disney’s new animated movie, “Planes.”

The main character in “Planes” is a Boeing 777 named “Tripp,” and Tripp made a cameo appearance as a part of the announcement, as did the film’s director. American Airlines also premiered a trailer of the movie for LAX customers and aboard a flight to Dallas/Fort Worth.

The joint campaign will include trip promotions and in-airport activities throughout the summer. It is the second recent travel industry collaborate for Disney, which is teaming up with Travelocity on webisodes that feature locations and activities from Disney’s “Lone Ranger” movie.
