For over seven hours, firefighters were at the scene of a processing plant that caught fire in eastern Iowa.

The fire was reported at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Anamosa. It was at a processing building used to make animal feed for ReConserve of Iowa Inc., according to a report by KCRG.

More than 10 departments helped bring water to the scene because there were no hydrants in the area. They stuck a pump in the Wapsipinicon River and brought water to the scene in tanker trucks, according to the report.

It wasn’t until 4:30 a.m. Monday that firefighters cleared the scene, KCRG reported. And even though the scene was cleared, the fire will likely burn for multiple days because animal feed inside had been smoldering, according to Anamosa Assistant Fire Chief Ron French.

French predicted that this fire was going to be “a long-term event.”

There were no injuries reported, and investigators were working to determine what caused the fire.
