Breathtaking Blue Shadows of Barren Winter Trees

The last time we checked in with aerial photographer Klaus Leidorf, he was taking beautiful birds-eye-view photos of Germany's diverse landscape. We're happy to report that he continues to photograph the world from high above, giving us a new way to appreciate all that the world has to offer.

In this series, we focus on Leidorf's ability to capture the breathtaking blue shadows of barren winter trees. Though stripped of leaves, the trees' branches take on a whole new role as they're hit with sunlight. Looming shadows lie in the white snow, giving off an almost painterly illusion. While a single tree and its shadow seem subtle and poetic, rows of them seem suddenly majestic.
