The latest update to iOS has been released, but for the time being it's only available to developers.

iOS 9.3.3 beta 1 can now be downloaded from Apple's Development Centre for testing on iPhones, iPads and iPod touches.

It is available for devices registered to test pre-release versions of iOS and will take up 1.4GB of your iPhone's hard drive space.

It isn't available for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, however, suggesting Apple hasn't yet fixed a bug in iOS 9.3.2 that bricked those devices after updating.

The bug caused devices to get stuck in a cycle of endless 'Error 56' reboots and resulted in Apple pulling the update from the App Store for owners of the smaller iPad Pro.

Release notes for the latest version of iOS only mention "bug fixes and improvements," so it's unlikely to include any major new functionality.

The launch of iOS 9.3 in March 2016 brought in the Night Shift feature that moves the iPhone's display to a warmer colour spectrum to cut out blue light.

Blue light is thought to negatively impact sleep quality and a similar tool had been previously available through an app called F.lux that Apple pulled from its store shortly before the rollout of 9.3.

An update include in iOS 9.3.2 update allowed users to activate Night Shift even when their iPhones were in low battery mode, something which the original software prevented.

More major updates to Apple software across all their devices are likely to come at next month's Worldwide Developer's Conference – Apple's annual conference for showcasing its new software and technology before an audience of developers.

According to MacRumours, the event from 13 - 17 June will see Apple announce iOS 10 and a new version of its desktop operating software, OS X, which might feature Siri integration.

These features are likely to launch later in the year.
