World’s Biggest Killjoy Sues Universal Over Adam Levine’s Alleged Weed Habit

Universal Music Marijuana Condoms Lawsuit Adam Levine T.I. Drugs

This just in: Musicians smoke marijuana while working in the studio. This shocking revelation has come to light thanks to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday (April 9) in Los Angeles Superior Court. The legal document alleges that Universal Music Group’s office complex in Santa Monica is a hotbed of unsavory characters getting high on weed. The plaintiff, a security guard who identifies herself only as a 41-year-old African American woman, has implied that Macy Gray, MC Ren, Jamie Foxx, T.I., Future, and Adam Levine, or members of their entourage, are guilty of inhaling.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the guard has worked at the Universal Music Publishing Group’s facility since 2010, but she complained to her employers once “artists and high profile celebrities began visiting the premises with drugs in hand and oftentimes offering drugs to [her].” She refused, but found the place to be “infiltrated with pervasive drug use where you could smell marijuana seeping from various offices, and openly used in common areas, and lounges.” Pot has been legalized in California, though only to those with a (very easy to obtain) license.

The woman claims that her complaints were met with “a blind eye,” and described one incident in which she smelled weed smoke emanating from one of the studios. When she asked a manager who was behind the door, the higher-up allegedly responded, “It’s Adam Levine. You know from Maroon 5 … He can do whatever he wants … If he wants to come to the lobby and do a line of cocaine on the floor, it’s OK.” She also says Universal employees would warn her when “blazers” were coming through, and that they offered to burn candles and incense to deaden the scent.

Another anecdote had T.I. and Future in the studio together in January as the air got increasingly pungent. On the same night, she claims to have asked one of Tip’s bodyguards to move his crew’s vehicles to the proper parking zone but that her request was shut down because, “I gotta be able to get this boy outta here if a shootout or something goes down.” On other occasions, she claims to have found condoms “plastered in the men’s bathroom,” and to have witnessed Universal employees “engaged in intimate touching and grinding, involving buttocks and genitalia.”

As silly as the marijuana stuff seems, the crux of the guard’s lawsuit revolves around what could amount to wrongful termination. Two days after reporting the T.I. event, she was allegedly called in by her boss at the Universal Protections Services security company and told she’d not been suspended from her job but banned from the premises. As THR reports, she is “seeking protection under California’s ‘whistle blowing’ statute and alleging discrimination, retaliation, being subject to unsafe work conditions, harassment, infliction of emotional distress and more.”
