Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has explained why Romelu Lukaku has settled in so well and so quickly at the club after his £75million transfer from Everton.

The Belgium international has shone in pre-season so far, scoring two goals and providing the pace United sorely lacked up front for so much of last season.

Lukaku shone in his time with Everton, and scored 25 Premier League goals last season to attract interest from a host of top clubs this summer prior to finally moving to Old Trafford.

Known for his friendship with United star Paul Pogba, Lukaku’s fine start is down to knowing a number of this squad well already before joining up with them, according to Shaw.

‘Romelu and Victor (Lindelof) have settled in very well,’ Shaw told MUTV.

‘It’s good for Rom as he knew a few of the players before he came so it was pretty easy for him to settle and Victor was new to the group but he has settled really well and he’s enjoying it.’

Shaw also expressed his excitement at Lukaku spear-heading this new-look attack for the Red Devils, particularly with all the pace in the side.

‘You look at the pace and skill we have up top and the finishing ability and it’s frightening,’ the England defender said.

‘The attacking players have shown a lot of quality on tour, especially when you look at Rom’s goal against City. It wasn’t an easy finish and Marcus (Rahford) has been in great form too and has scored a few goals.

‘Micki’s also scored and played how he always plays and Martial – wow, the skill for the goal (against Real Madrid) was fantastic.’
