Bane, Poison Ivy, Wonder Woman, Supergirl and Darkseid (as the pre-order come-on) all cameo in the latest story trailer for Injustice 2, the DC Universe fighting game coming from NetherRealm Studios in May.
The story picks up the pieces of 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us, in which Superman and Batman warred (doesn't that sound familiar) over who gets to be Earth’s shot-caller. Turns out some folks still have a lot of affection for Supes, including Robin (Damian Wayne), who dishes out an Oedipal ass-beating on his father.
Supergirl also appears to be at odds with her cousin, and Batman seems to have made an alliance with some of his old nemeses in trying to restore order following the Superman tyranny. All of this is a bunch of big words setting up the rationale for superheroes fighting one another as willingly as they would super-baddies.
There will be a new character revealed next week (Jan. 24). All of the heroes and villains seen in this trailer have been confirmed so far. Injustice 2 is coming May 16 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
