To preach the Word of God carries such an immense obligation before our God... We have the responsibility before Almighty God to proclaim Christ and Him crucified, whether it's in the Church on the Lord's Day, the streets or the prison. First, The need is to proclaim Him correctly, to proclaim Him responsibly and to proclaim Him with conviction. Second, we have the need to feed the flock with the Word of God so that they would be nourished as sheep, warned as infidels and exhorted as wayward so that they would grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus. James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. Though this is immense and the preaching of the Word of God has eternal ramifications. . . those who are called to proclaim Christ should never shrink from their calling, but embrace it above all other loves, and to cry out to God for strength and boldness. Our generation is in dire need of men who will proclaim the Word of God like John Knox...fearlessly in the face of man and fearfully before God. BB
