This Jeep XJ Cherokee got away, but there are more like it here.
This 1998 Jeep Cherokee was used as a security vehicle by a hospital in Laurel, Maryland from new until the selling dealer’s purchase in May 2019, and it now shows less than 29k miles. This Cherokee is an SE model finished in Stone White over a Mist Gray cloth interior and powered by a 4.0-liter straight-six. Factory options include a four-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and a Trac-Lok differential as well as power mirrors, a roof rack, a rear defroster, and a rear wiper. Service in the past few months included replacing hoses, fluid changes, new brake pads and rotors, and an air-conditioning service. This XJ is now offered in Winter Park, Florida with its window sticker, recent service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Maryland title.
The body is finished in Stone White (W1) and features black plastic fender flares, bumper covers, and other trim. The seller notes paintwork on the roof and on the front doors to remove graphics from the hospital.
Factory 15″ steel wheels are mounted with Hankook and Goodyear tires. Factory roof bars and the rear wiper are shown in the gallery. A brake pad and rotor replacement was undertaken by the selling dealer, and the windshield wipers were also replaced. Four new Monroe shocks and new front stabilizer links were installed for the seller in August 2019.
The interior is trimmed in Mist Gray and features high-back front bucket seats, air conditioning, a factory AM/FM radio, power mirrors, and manual windows. The seller has replaced the clockspring, factory carpeting, the hatch struts, and the headliner plugs.
The digital odometer shows just over 28,600 miles, with about 200 miles added by the selling dealer.
The 4.0-liter Power Tech straight-six was rated at 190 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and a Dana 35 rear axle with 3.55:1 gears. Maintenance since the seller’s acquisition is said to have included replacing hoses, belts, fluids, and ignition wiring as well as servicing the air conditioning.
The seller reportedly also replaced the fluid for the transmission and differentials. Corrosion is noted on the driveshaft and exhaust. Additional images of the underside are provided in the gallery.
The window sticker shows the vehicle’s optional equipment, an MSRP of $21,145, and notes the original dealer as Sport Jeep-Eagle in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other issues and notes registrations with one owner in Maryland from new. A video presentation is below.
