Zadie Smith has spoken of her frustration at her seven-year-old daughter and other girls spending so much time looking in the mirror.
The author of White Teeth, On Beauty and Swing Time said that young girls were fools for wasting time when boys were quickly “out the door” to achieve things.
Smith, 41, said that she had imposed a 15-minute time limit on her daughter, Kit. “I explained it to her in these terms: you are wasting time, your brother is not going to waste any time doing this,” she said. “Every day of his life he will put a shirt on, he’s out the door and he doesn’t give a shit if you waste an hour and a half doing your make-up.”
