The rise and rise of Instagram

This article is more than 9 years old

Instagramers now meet in cities all over the world to take and share photos. You can join one of these InstaMeets next weekend in London.

Follow the Guardian Travel Instagram feed and share your travels in Instagram pictures with a series of three snaps, plus captions, by adding #guardiantravelsnaps

Since Instagram started in 2010, people have been meeting up to share photos and videos, and to connect with their local communities through creative means. As the community has grown – 150 million monthly active users around the world, with 40 million photos posted daily – so too has the occurrence of InstaMeets. To date 12,799 Instagrammers have met in 1,717 cities. Join Guardian Travel guest Instagrammer @cucinadigitale, along with @petehalvorsen and friends for a photo walk through London on Saturday 25 October. Meet 10.30am at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park.
