We looked at a quite a few new smart watches here at the show, but Timex’s One GPS+ is by far the most impressive.

Why? It’s the first watch we’ve seen that allows you to track your route via GPS, record your fitness metrics (speed, distance, calories burned), listen to music (it holds a 100 songs), and send and receive text messages up to 200 characters—all without being synched to a phone.

How? The One GPS+ comes with a free one-year data plan from AT&T. Finish your workout and it uploads your data to a server that then populates fitness apps like Strava and MapMyFitness. It’s waterproof to 50 meters, comes with an optional heart rate monitor strap ($50), and has a live tracking feature that allows your friends to keep tabs on your progress.

What’s the catch? There isn’t one, really. It is a bit bulky and you’ll have to buy a data plan for the second year (price TBD), but during the limited time we were able to play with it, the interface seems incredibly user-friendly and sleek.

$399, due out sometime this fall
