The people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem. EZRA (3:1) וַיֵּאָסְפוּ הָעָם כְּאִישׁ אֶחָד אֶל יְרוּשָׁלִָם עזרא ג:א va-yay-as'-fu ha-am k'-eesh e-khad el y'-ru-sha-la-yeem Jerusalem Inspiration Today's verse brings to mind the revelation at Mt. Sinai, where it says “…and they encamped [plural] in the wilderness, and Israel encamped [singular] across from the mountain.” The great medieval commentator, Rabbi Shlomo Yitzchaki, points out that the use of the singular verb indicates that the people were “as one person, with one heart.” Just as the magnitude of the Sinai experience had the power to unite the independent tribes into one nation, so too is the power of Jerusalem. Even today, only Jerusalem has the potential power to assemble Israel as one. 'Israel Returns' unites the lost tribes of Israel and brings them together as one to the hoy city of Jerusalem.
