Woman Receives 11 Tattoos in One Week to Show Evolution of Americana Tattoos
Inspired, or just plain crazy?
The Cut has become known recently for its well-executed 100 Years of Beauty video series, each documenting the evolution of our perceptions of beauty in countries the world over, from Germany to Russia to Ethiopia. While these normally involve a change of period-accurate clothes, the channel’s latest concept is somewhat more permanent considering the topic is the development of the aesthetics of the Americana tattoo style. Recruiting Ohio native Casey Lubin as the blank canvas, tattoo artist Clae Welch applies a radical transformation to her body adding 11 individual tattoos in the space of one week. Each tattoo represents the state of Americana tattoos in each decade from the 1910s onwards as represented by the most iconic tattoo artist of that era. Would you do the same for the sake of art?
