Watch 1,000 robots simultaneously dance their way to a new world record

The remote-controlled bots danced in sequence at the Quingdao Beer Festival

A Chinese company has successfully set a Guinness World Record by making 1,000 robots dance simultaneously.

The show, put on by Ever Win Company, saw 1,007 robots dance for 60 seconds in perfect unison. The troupe successfully defeated the previous record of 540 simultaneous dancing robots set by another Chinese company, UBTECH Robotics Corp, earlier this year.

Each of the 43.8 centimetre tall robots was controlled from a single smartphone. An encryption system was used to prevent other devices from interfering during the event.

But even robots can suffer a fall from grace, as 33 of the bots fell over or refused to dance during the event, leading to their disqualification.

The dancing robots performed at the Quingdao Beer Festival in Shandong, China, which is also known as the Asian Oktoberfest.
