Tattered thong jeans in Japan! Denim with a crotch-to-waist fly by Vetements and Lorod! A jeans leg sewn on another jeans leg by Yajun! Now yet another pair of double take–inducing jeans have surfaced courtesy of Ksenia Schnaider. The Kiev-based designer, who had a buzzy jeans moment thanks to her Bella Hadid–approved demi-denims, has one-upped herself with an optically jarring pant: One side is reminiscent of a JNCO and the other side is chicly narrow. They currently retail for $377.

Schnaider based the pant on two of her best-selling models, a wide-leg and a pair of high-waisted mom jeans. “My partner, Anton Schnaider, said that it was too crazy and no one needs jeans like this, so I abandoned this idea for a couple of seasons,” she says. “But a few months ago, I realized that at least one person needs such jeans—me!” While the creation isn’t a complete trompe l’oeil, it’s certainly weird and a bit trippy. Plus, surreal fashion has been having a moment. Estonian singer Tommy Cash recently wore digitally warped Uggs à la Y/Project’s collaboration with the brand, and Balenciaga and Vetements have both been experimenting with altered visuals on their social media accounts.

So far, Schnaider has only worn them in her studio, but she has gotten some fun reactions from her team, writing, “The jeans can surprise and make people smile,” and adding that she’ll bring them to the streets during Paris Men’s Fashion Week this month. As for what she’ll wear them with? Schnaider will go simple with heels and hoodies or loafers and “boring” sweaters, saying, “They are crazy enough, so I think other items should be all-time classics.”
