Magna Steyr MILA Plus concept sports car unveiled

The 2015 Geneva Motor Show is quickly approaching, and joining the list of vehicles being shown off ahead of their official debut is the Magna Steyr MILA Plus concept sports car. This yellow racer is designed to show what the auto supplier — Magna Steyr — has to offer, and is one of several concept vehicles it has debuted in recent times. The company will be showing off its concept car at the auto show amidst big-name manufacturers' own branded wares, and though this isn't an offering you'll be able to pick up at your local dealership, it does inspire ideas about what sports cars could be showing up in the future.

The MILA Plus concept is a hybrid sports car featuring a pair of electric motors as well as a gas engine — it boasts AWD, and can hit 268 horsepower alongside 428lb-ft. of torque. Operating on batteries alone, the MILA Plus has a range of 47 miles before the gas engine kicks in.

When used with the electric motors, the car can hit 50MPH in 3.6 seconds, while under normal operation the car can reach 62MPH in 4.9 seconds. The body itself is made from plastic, while the frame is aluminum and the auto supplier specifies the use of contact welding — so-called cold mechanical joining.

The Geneva Motor Show will be home to quite a few vehicles — as we noted yesterday, the 2016 Audi R8 will be making its public debut at the auto show, though its maker has already detailed what the beastly machine has to offer (and we, of course, have all the details).
