She came, she saw, and she tried to conquer.

Hillary, I mean. Us hard-ass Newsers, I mean.

TRANSCRIPT: HILLARY CLINTON MEETS WITH NEWS EDITORIAL BOARD

Hillary Clinton, who is the third presidential candidate to face a grilling by the Editorial Board of the Daily News, came for her turn on the hotseat Saturday and overstayed.

HILLARY CLINTON: 1994 CRIME BILL LED TO MASS INCARCERATION

Not her welcome, but Clinton didn’t want to leave because she was enjoying herself so she stayed longer than she was supposed to, while still managing to stick to her talking points.

CLINTON: KEEP HAMILTON ON THE $10, DUMP JACKSON ON THE $20

For the most part, the perfectly coiffed and groomed candidate (as opposed to Bernie who has his suits custom-rumpled and hasn’t combed any of his six hairs in 60 years) showed herself to be certainly less forthcoming than the other candidates who’ve dropped by — Bernie and John Kasich — and as totally well informed as you expect her to be.

Did we learn anything we didn’t already know? No. Did we see her in a way we haven’t before? No. Did that matter? Yes. And no.

Hillary is a perfectly well-oiled machine in public, but is much more charming in person in small one-on-one settings. Where does she stand?

Israel? Yes. Further settlement expansion? No.

Jobs? Yes. Why then was there a big decline in upstate New York jobs during and since her time as senator, even as jobs increased elsewhere in the country?

GET CLINTON, SANDERS TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS IN NYC DEBATE

The great recession, job losses to the south and overseas, she said, but didn’t, say, mention the estimated one million American jobs lost since the passage of NAFTA under her hubby President Bill Clinton’s administration.

Too big to fail? Yes. And no.

Did we learn much from Hillary Clinton's sitdown with the Daily News? Yes, and no.
Did we learn much from Hillary Clinton’s sitdown with the Daily News? Yes, and no.

Hillary told us that she has great faith in the “Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act,” passed in 2010 to help protect us from another Great Recession.

Hillary didn’t mention the 1999 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act under President Clinton, which had been passed in 1933 to protect us from another Great Depression. Its repeal has often been cited as one of the big reasons for the Big Recession. Oh.

TRANSCRIPT: BERNIE SANDERS MEETS WITH NEWS EDITORIAL BOARD

Free College? Yes. And no.

Hillary said that public college tuition should be based on affordability and family income. The feds and hopefully the states would make up the difference in what students can afford with grants — not loans. Students would be required to work ten hours a week at the colleges to “repay” the grants.

That racist “super predators” remark, and the much hated Clinton crime bill? Yes, but not really.

CLINTON, SANDERS FIGHT FOR UNION SUPPORT BEFORE DEM. PRIMARY

“I used it. Once. And never again,” Hillary told us. She did not forget to mention that people such as the Rev. Al Sharpton stood up for the crime bill and how 30 years before Bill took office there were three police officers for every felony and by the time he got elected it was down to one cop for every three felonies.

Sincerity? Yes. And No. Competentance? Yes.

Did Hillary conquer? Yes. And no. She came, she left, and so did I — headed for the Board of Elections to cast my absentee ballot. Will I vote for Hillary?

I still don’t know. What I do know is that, come November, she might be all that stands between us and all the hate in the world.

BERNIE: YES WE (VATI)CAN

Bernie Sanders, our one Jewish candidate, wrangled an invitation to speak at the Vatican next week right before the New York primary, in maybe a bizarre a bid to get the Catholic vote.

BERNIE SANDER INSISTS HE DID NOT LOBBY FOR VATICAN INVITE

Didn’t anyone tell Sanders that no one’s courted us Catholics since Constantine?

But Bernie’s invitation — like everything this political season — is steeped in anger, subterfuge and accusations of wrongdoing.

Bernie Sanders got himself an invite to the Vatican.
Bernie Sanders got himself an invite to the Vatican.

Margaret Archer, who’s in charge of the event, sniffed to BloombergPolitics.com that Bernie disrespectfully invited himself two or three days ago, but Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, produced Bernie’s Vatican invitation, which was dated 10 days earlier.

Archer also says it’s for academics only, even though two South American presidents are attending. So who’s breaking the Ninth Commandment here?

No wonder no one bothers courting us.

EXPRESS LINES

Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil, who likes to beat up women, had to be restrained in Vegas by his pal Nicolas Cage, after Neil knocked a female fan to the ground and pulled her hair (as reported by TMZ). To make the scene even more “Hangover” than “Hangover,” Cage was tragically decked out for the decking in what looks like a purple pimp suit. Forget the cops — you can never find the Fashion Police when you need them. Take a look — it’s like a couple of drunken, scuffling Andrew Dice Clay impersonators, also in short supply these days

… Overused words that must be outlawed immediately: “Journey” to describe anything that does not actually involve travel, and “adorable” when attached to every photo of the Kardashians and all other celebrities with their kids. Not killing them doesn’t make every scene adorable.

LISTEN TO POPE, GOP-ERS

He wanted us to do whaat?

Decades ago, Alex Comfort took millions of readers out of their comfort zones with “The Joy of Sex.”

So who wudda thought all these decades later, Pope Francis would cause an equal amount of discomfort — especially among “good Christian” GOP presidential candidates — by coming out, so to speak, with “The Joy of Love?”

He wants us to do whaat?

The apostolic exhortation calls for the Catholic clergy to welcome gays, single parents and unmarried straight couples living together into the fold.

Francis stopped short of accepting gay marriage, but considering the church’s stance on all of the above for — oh, what is it now, two thousand years? — it’s a big deal.

He wants us to stop doing whaat?

Pope Francis is asking for kinder treatment of certain kinds of couples.
Pope Francis is asking for kinder treatment of certain kinds of couples.

The radical Pope wants us to refrain from “every sign of unjust discrimination” which is to be “carefully avoided, particularly any form of aggression and violence.”

So Francis won’t be attending any Trump rallies then?

He’s not doing whaat?

JERSEY PONG PINHEADS BREW UP HATE

Underage high schoolers in Princeton, N.J., posted photos of themselves playing “Jews vs. Nazi beer pong” with the Jews allowed to hide one “Anne Frank” cup from the other cups, which were arranged in the shapes of a Star of David and a Swastika.

The repulsively sad game, which has been gaining popularity since 2013, is the perfect game for our times. What next? Syrian Refugees vs. Presidential Candidates with one cup being saved for a starving Syrian child? Let the good times roll!

SCOURGE OF THE CITY

The candidates are coming! The candidates are coming! Actually, the clown car of phonies has arrived and you’re safer facing angry furry characters in Times Square. How suddenly Noo Yawk are these candidates?

Bernie thinks we still use subway tokens, which is like telling Italians they still use lire. This gaffe caused Hillary to take a swipe at Bernie, and promptly got swiped on her own petard when she needed five swipes of her MetroCard to get it right.

Worse, Ted Cruz, who says Jesus chose him to be President, shamelessly courted Orthodox Jews at a matzo bakery. Last time he tried that, Politico reports, he was late because he was finishing off his bacon lunch. Something in a kosher bacon and mayo on matzo, Senator?
