Watch: How THE PEANUTS MOVIE's Character Design Stays True to The Original Comic Strip

Like many of you, I grew up reading Charles Schulz's Peanuts comic strip, and I rolled my eyes when I heard the people who brought us Ice Age would be making a movie featuring those lovable characters. And while we still don't know anything about the quality of the film itself, this new featurette at least made me rethink my stance on the film. The filmmakers are very clearly trying to let fans know that they're attempting to make the movie resemble the comic as closely as possible, while still adding a new spin by transforming the characters into 3D objects on screen. I have to say: the animation looks like a perfect translation of Schulz's original work, so if the script is good, this could be a classic in the making. The Peanuts Movie opens on November 6th.

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the beloved “Peanuts” gang make their big-screen debut, like they’ve never been seen before, in state of the art 3D animation. Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle – and flying ace – embarks upon his greatest mission as he takes to the skies to pursue his arch-nemesis The Red Baron, while his best pal, Charlie Brown, begins his own epic quest. From the imagination of Charles M. Schulz and the creators of the ICE AGE films, THE PEANUTS MOVIE will prove that every underdog has his day.
