The First Promo for Syfy's Creepypasta TV Series May Actually Give You Nightmares

The first six-episode cycle of Syfy’s new horror anthology series, Channel Zero, takes inspiration from the creepypasta story Candle Cove, about a kiddie TV show that lingers in the memory and maybe causes terrible things to happen in the real world, too. The first promo is here, and it makes American Horror Story look as scary as an episode of Sesame Street.

The promo also offers our first good look at Paul Schneider as lead character Mike Painter. His character description:

A child psychologist, Mike Painter was a child himself when he witnessed the mysterious disappearance of his twin brother, Eddie, and four other children from their small town, Iron Hill, in 1988. Decades later, he is compelled to return to his hometown to investigate what really happened all those years ago, only to find that it – whatever it was – may be happening all over again.

Sounds a little reminiscent of It, except with sinister puppets instead of a clown. And from the looks of it (check out the clips on Syfy’s website), Channel Zero is going to be just as capable of making some good, solid, lasting nightmares. Can’t wait.
